JOB TITLE: Director of Compensation, Benefits & Human Resource Records JOB CODE: 32804 THIS IS FACE-TO-FACE AND NOT REMOTE! FLSA: Exempt Minimum Annual Salary: $123,468.80 GRADE: S23

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Leads people, programs and processes in design and delivery of compensation and benefits to employees. Oversees employee record and position management functions supporting HR and fiscal processes.

Reports to the District Human Resources Department.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages integration of people and processes that deliver compensation and benefits programs to Alamo Colleges District’s employees along with the recording of employee information and actions. Guides reporting managers and individual contributors on implementation and supports actions and activities of staff. Leads communication of actions and recommendations to senior Alamo Colleges District’s leadership.
  • Integrates Human Resource (HR) projects and processes with organizations supporting compensation, benefits and records functions such as Payroll, IT, Finance and Fiscal, HRIS, Employee Services and numerous external vendors. Provides formal and informal management of cross-functional teams. Acts as focal point for vendor actions and communications.
  • Develops and implements compensation, benefits and records strategy, policies and procedures to support organizational goals and ensure legal compliance. Trains HR staff and managers on compensation, benefits and records/transaction processes and best practices.
  • Participates in strategic planning activities for HR and Alamo Colleges District as it impacts the delivery of people management practices. Presents recommendations and analyses to senior leadership.
  • Supervises, selects, trains, monitors, coaches and evaluates the work of team members. Maintains and processes employment related documents such as time sheets and leave forms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
  • Seven years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, payroll, HRIS and /or employee records analysis and consulting.
  • Three years of leading compensation, benefits, and /or employee records teams and programs.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid Texas driver license and be insurable through the organization’s insurers.
  • Prefer CCP, PHR, SPHR certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of federal and state wage, salary, benefits, employment and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of current salary survey and benefits administration methodology and application.
  • Skill in analyzing processes and programs to determine effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Skill in communication, negotiation and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures that support organization goals and objectives.
  • Ability to independently identify needs and lead resolution initiatives.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in an office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying lightweight objects may be required.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
