Sr. Associate Vice President of Finance

Job Description

The Senior Associate Vice President will provide support and assistance to the Vice President for Finance in the responsibility of the executive management of the financial support and business-related service units of the University and Foundation.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Assist the VP of Finance in the management of the University’s budget to ensure the fiscal stability of the institution to support department operations and allocation of resources
  • Analyze data and assist with the preparation of reports for fiscal managers
  • Assist in the drafting of presentations and communications to engage individuals at all levels of the University to inform of financial decision-making
  • Assist in developing strategies to enhance the University’s investment management decisions, bank services and lender relationships
  • Assist with managing the University and Foundation endowments
  • Assist with bank reconciliations
  • Assist in facilities planning to organize and structure a capital budget for construction planning of new facilities and facilities modifications
  • Present timely, accurate financial information to the VP of Finance, Auditor, and other internal/external constituents as applicable
  • Assist in drafting policies and procedures for the Department of Finance
  • Assists with ensuring that policy, contracts and compliance efforts are developed and maintained to mitigate audit findings and that proper internal controls are in place and functional
  • Assists in the management of fixed assets; the inventory of movable equipment of the institution, and the disposal, salvage or demolition of assets
  • Assist with the supervision and evaluations of all Finance direct reports
  • Prepare, review and/or approve purchase requisitions, invoices or travel requests as directed by VP of Finance
  • Assist students and parents with fiscal related problems
  • Second in command for the Department of Finance
  • Assist in the financial management of the Black and Gold Facilities Corporation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • A MBA degree is required or other appropriate advanced degree.
  • The desired candidates should possess experience in financial analysis, budget planning and management 
  • Should have a minimum of six (6) years of successful and related administrative experience.  
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of business and finance principles and practices applicable to higher education as they apply at the local, state, and national levels. 
  • We are seeking an outstanding professional, with personal integrity and a proven demonstration of teamwork. 

Preferred:
  • Experience in direct oversight of the following offices is preferred: Travel, Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving; Property; Food Service, Mailroom. 
  • CPA designation and experience with BANNER Software is preferred.
